We've been researching about it and found out different ways to tackle the problem. Long story short: there's no universal formula. Design systems are not a project that comes to an end, they are a working practice.
To measure how successful it is and where you can improve, impact has to be measured according to the principles driving your work process: the goals of you digital product.
